I went into residential real estate in 1989 after managing a retail shopping center and managing rental property for several years. I worked in a traditional real estate business model franchise and wore a gold coat. In that model the broker was king.
I moved my business office to Frisco Texas and managed a desk fee business model real estate company. If the agents had not paid by the 5th of the month I would make arrangements with them to pay their office bill. The agents worked under a lot of stress as you can imagine. In this high stress office told no one anything about their business or how they came about being successful. After ten years I became the broker for a real estate auction company. That was fun and exciting business but not financially rewarding.
At that time Brian Nichols came to me and asks me to become the broker for a new business model real estate office. As he told me about how the model worked I became excited because this model addressed the real day to day problems in the real estate business. It answered the age old question of how to retire form real estate and still make money form my efforts in the business. Also in the model was a way to share what I had learned and practiced as an agent with new agents and get paid for sharing. This model has been very satisfying for me because I get to see the agents grow and prosper. The atmosphere in our office is one of empathy not ego.
